Thaeriel will oftentimes lend his personal “Crook of Shepherding” to his champions. While it doesn’t seem like much, it is a very valuable relic. Blessed by the God himself, the runes etched into the wood make it indestructible. Oftentimes it can be used only one time to smack a creature. After that use, the runes spring to life, breathing new life into the largest creature that has died with you in battle.

Thaeriel does not like to call this a resurrection, that’s Malissus’ territory. The Crook of Shepherding is more like magical CPR. If the God of Light offers you this relic, be sure to consider taking it with you into battle. Sometimes one smack is all you’ll need to succeed.

Auros, the God of War likes to get his hands dirty. He revels in the chaos and animosity of battle and enjoys meeting his opponents head on whenever possible. Even with that mindset, he knows the value of magic, and will use spellcrafters to give him any advantage possible. In this case, by using the spell he called “Fury.”

Auros wanted any easy way to grant strength and courage to his followers. He also wanted his champion to be able to grant it as well. He approached Althaia, a beautiful and well known spellcrafter who regularly created minor spells for Gods to use whenever needed.

Taking a piece of parchment created from the skin of a Charging Oryx, she wrote the incantation in the blood of a Reckless Flamebreather. The magic combined with these two ingredients created a powerful spell that grants the receiver strength and courage for the coming battle. Being a simple spell, the effect is minor, but every little bit helps when there are a lot of creatures on the battlefield.

Dockside Prowler

Adrian waded through the chest deep water, his eyes fixated on his target. The Neropoi, or water people, as most mortals called them, were extremely secretive and rarely seen away from water. The reason being, they literally lived IN the water. They only came to the surface for necessities mortals could provide, or in Adrian’s case, to fulfill a contract he had taken.

Neropoi are well known for having some of the best assassins in Eucos, having been dubbed “Dockside Prowlers.” This is one big reason high profile mortals stay away from large bodies of water whenever possible. It is all too easy for a Neropoi to come out of the water, kill their mark, then slip right back into the water never to be seen again.

Adrian was one of the best, and he had been paid upfront for the job. His target was facing away from him, standing on the edge of the dock talking to a sailor. Slowly drawing out his pearl-handled short-sword, this job was going to be quick and easy.

Soul Bargain

Malissus tasked one of her more trusted demons Belial with creating a spell. A special spell that no mortal or creature could resist. One that would steal their soul when they died in battle so she could take control of it if needed. After their soul was stolen and used, the creature would be totally and utterly, obliterated from both physical and spiritual existence.

Belial did not take the task lightly. Twirling his white mustache while combing through hundreds of ancient spell books, he was able to combine multiple spells into a single one that he named “Soul Bargain.” He presented his creation to Malissus who also blessed her champions with its knowledge. Now, prior to one of her minions sacrificing themselves in battle, they are presented with “Soul Bargain”, and no one will ever resist accepting it.

Barbed Portcullis

The Barbed Portcullis offers a slight advantage over a simple barricade. With walls made of stone and spikes from hardened steel, this structure will do a bit more damage to creatures that try to assail it. While the effort to construct it is slightly more than a barricade as well, the tradeoff might be just what is needed on the battlefield.

As with a barricade, stronger creatures will easily crush this structure, but it does slow them down and do some slight damage. For smaller creatures, this might just be what you need to stop them entirely.

Boil-Blood Outlaw

If Cyrus Nicolo a.k.a, the Boil-Blood Outlaw, shows up in your town, it’s best to board up the windows and barricade the doors. It wouldn’t be a big deal if he was a normal man, but Cyrus becomes stronger the more angry he gets.

Blessed by Auros for unknown reasons long ago, anything can send him into a fit of rage. Cyrus was a master of the game Ludus Latrunculorum and would happily challenge anyone to a game over any stakes. When his opponent in one match cheated, Cyrus visually turned a shade of red, the dark tattoos on his body seeming to glow as if lit from an internal fire. He unsheathed two large hatchets, one in each hand and beheaded the man instantly.

If you happen to see Cyrus walking through town, and he asks you to play a quick game of Ludus Latrunculorum, be careful. You might just come face to face with the Boil-Blood Outlaw.

Springbloom Hunter

Elexis was dressed in her best hunting gear, prepared for the annual hunt her township participated in every ear. As the flowers bloomed and the forest’s lush foliage drew animals out from the warmth of their winter slumber, hunters from all around gathered together for the “Springbloom Hunt.”

This tradition kept the animal population to a manageable level while providing local villagers with goods to sell and food for their families. Everyone who participated was designated a Springbloom Hunter and given a specific number or type of creature they could hunt depending on their family size, and sometimes their social status. This was Elexis’ fifth year participating in the hunt and she was flush with anticipation.

Elexis heard the Dionysus bullhorn in the distance indicating the hunt had officially started, so she sprinted off to her favorite spot for hunting wild hog. There was something different about this year. She felt different. More in touch with nature and closer to Aeona, the God of nature. She wasn’t sure why she felt that way and cleared her mind to focus. Almost immediately she spotted a wild hog a short distance away. She stepped on a branch that announced her presence with a loud “SNAP”. The wild hog, wasting no time began to charge directly at her.

Elexis drew an arrow, nocked it, pulled back the bow string and let it fly. The arrow struck the hog right in the chest, a fatal blow, but not one that dropped it immediately. The hog continued its charge and jumped at Elexis, attempting to gore her with a large tusk. Elexis dropped her bow, drew her dagger with one swift motion, but was not fast enough to fend off the hog. One of the razor sharp tusks and some small teeth tore into the flesh of her arm, knocking her off balance as the hog landed in a lump behind her, dead.

The two cuts were deep. So deep Elexis could see the crimson muscle pulsing inside, blood soaking the grass around her.  At the rate she was bleeding, there was no way she would make it back to the village. Emotions flooded over her all at once. She would never see her family again, never be able to marry Alec, never spend time with the people she loved so much. Elexis called to Aeona and prayed. She asked her God to mend her wounds so she could continue to provide for her family because without her, they would surely starve.

As Elexis gripped her wound, trying her best to slow the bleeding, the tear in her skin began to glow. It started out gold, but slowly grew into a bright green that caused the bleeding to stop. Then, before her eyes, her skin began to slowly melt back together. The green glow receded and her arm was now as perfect as it was moments before the hog attack. Elexis began to weep with joy, overcome with emotion and thankfulness that Aeona had been watching over her.

While not particularly pleasing to look at, the Ramshackle Hatchet has seen its fair share war and bloodshed. Passed down through generations, historical accounts state it was forged by a blacksmith personally selected by Auros.

The leather hand wrap is in tatters, and the wood handle has cracked and splintered in some places. Despite these shortcomings, the blade edge remains razor-sharp, seeming to never dull. Confidence in this relic gives the wielder an overwhelming sense of power and allows them to attack any enemy without fear.

Feast on the Dead

Some champions of the Goddess Malissus are blessed with the ability to cast spells. One spell from her Highness is particularly useful in giving her some health if she becomes fatigued while supporting her champion. By casting “Feast of the Dead”, one creature is sacrificed for the glory of Malissus. In return for the sacrifice, every other creature is blessed with the ability to heal their beautiful God.

This spell was first created and used by Neferu in her battles across Eucos. It worked so well in battle, she inscribed it on a stone tablet and entrusted it to a catacomb curator. The curator buried it deep underground, shielding it from mortal use, and is only accessible by the Goddess herself, or her champion.

Hired Muscle

Stavros had been contemplating a career change for quite a while now. But, the fact was, he was good at his job. His family dismissed his current line of work, telling him all he would ever amount to was “hired muscle”. Stavros wasn’t sure if there was anything wrong with that though.

Being an extremely large child, he was able to dominate the other kids in sports. His culture prized and cultivated being aggressive, but his parents always had other ideas for him. Stavros finished school and once he was old enough, he moved out and established himself as an “Asset Protection Specialist”. He would escort shipments of goods that had a large retail value and fight off any hijackers. He was good at his job, and was paid well for it.

Stavros sat on the pile of bodies he just created, staring at his trusty dagger, wondering if his parents were right. He just killed five men who tried to steal a chest of gold meant as an offering for Valka, Champion of Lord Auros. In the years to come, his old age would catch up with him, and then what was he going to do? Sit around and die? No, he had to make some changes, and there was no time like the present to make them.
